Assessors for Life

Lords praise Building for Life

The House of Lords has highlighted Building for Life as 'the national standard for design quality in new housing developments' in a recent debate on architecture and the Housing and Regeneration Bill.

The property conundrum

Nick Johnson from Urban Splash outlines the developer's paradox. Developers who employ good architects to build low carbon schemes with excellent materials are penalised – not rewarded – at the point of purchase.

Placemaking on the city fringe

Hegianwandweg is in Switzerland, between an area of 1930s flats and a high rise for elderly people.
